Community

A commitment to community

We have a long standing commitment to positively impact the quality of life in the communities in which we work and live.

Through the Pohlad Family Foundation, which focuses on housing stability for families and youth in the Twin Cities; the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, which supports the healthy development of children and families through an association with baseball, softball and the Minnesota Twins; and each of our operating companies, which provide time, talent and resources to nonprofit organizations where their employees live and work—we support the organizations and initiatives that address important issues and needs in our communities.

Our leaders and employees serve on boards, host charity events, and provide volunteer services to a broad array of charitable organizations, including: Minneapolis Metro YMCA, Twin Cities Public Television, CornerHouse, Neighborhood Development Center, Ronald McDonald House, MEET Minneapolis, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Park Nicollet Health Services and the Melrose Institute, Minnesota Public Radio, Greater MSP, Downtown Council of Minneapolis, Common Bond Communities, The Trust for Public Land, the Urban Land Institute, University of Minnesota, the Jeremiah Program, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Youthlink, Eureka Recycling, Pathways Minneapolis, Minneapolis Firefly Sisterhood, Menttium, American Cancer Society, Gilda’s Club; and more.

Volunteer Day

Partnership and collaboration are key to solving big issues like homelessness. The Pohlad Family Foundation and Pohlad Companies teamed up with Catholic Charities of St. Paul & Minneapolis for the Pohlad Employee Companies Volunteer Day in the Fall of 2019. 100+ employees from across the Pohlad organization came together to make a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness in the Twin Cities. Employees prepared 171 units of new, permanent housing for previously homeless adults, including units dedicated for young adults experiencing at risk of becoming homeless or experiencing homelessness.

Employee Giving

Since 2003, our employees have donated more than five million dollars through annual employee giving efforts.

Trout Brook

More than 100 employees rolled up their sleeves at the new Trout Brook Nature Sanctuary just north of downtown St. Paul, Minn. for a volunteer habitat restoration event. Together, they transformed a neglected former railroad site into a nature sanctuary complete with prairie, savanna, maple-basswood forest and a storm water management system filtration pond.

Pohlad Family Foundation

From mentorship to participation in charity walks, donation drives and more, we have a longstanding tradition of giving time and resources back to our communities.
